'Hello' is a large-scale kinetic sculpture taking the form of an ancient Greek column, coiled into a snake-like pose. Its Corinthian capital moves to track the shifting positions of visitors as they navigate the gallery space. By charging the classical form with cutting-edge robotics and aggressive animalistic behavior, XU ZHEN® confronts our tendency to canonize, collapsing time and contending with "civilizations' iterations, fusions, and collisions" within our global context of cultural flux and exchange.
