In this kaleidoscopic and frenetic painting, Firelei Báez seeks to interpret the phenomena of life in its most basic forms. The underlying diagram depicts the vertical and latitudinal distribution of different forms of animal life, both land and sea, across various continental topographies. With semi-abstract conjurations of creatures with feathers or tentacles, echoing the land and sea animals noted in the original document, this painting is a glimmering primordial soup of generative life forms.
