Wayne Ngan was deeply influenced by coastal life, often echoing the oceanic fauna of the Salish Sea in his ceramics. In "Clam Form Vessel" (c. 2010s), Ngan expertly emulates the form of the clam while abstracting the shape by joining two plates on small clay "feet". His use of white glaze adds depth and contour to the piece, breaking and thinning out on the edges, while the interior is also glazed.
