The story of this work is of time running on two tracks: one is simple–the time on the clock that the body knows; the other is a countdown that the brain does awaiting a positive outcome. An election, a vaccine, the end of a term. There is the time in reality and the time that is hoped and waited for. The shape of the clock is based on a timepiece that hung on my grandparents’ wall for over fifty years, a wall that didn’t change for half a century while everything around it changed greatly. This work hopes for better outcomes on horizons that feature a future out of polarized inertia.
