In Chrysalis at the Altar of Change, 2022 Naudline Pierre’s protagonist emerges glowing embraced by a flock of cherubs and flanked by five standing spiky-haloed seraphs who watch as she takes her next form. A serpent – a creature that has come to signify protection in Pierre’s iconography – showers the central figure with shimmering flames that fall from its mouth. In the background, we see the flaming bars of a gate, a recurring motif in Enter the Realm and one of the many points of entry into the alternate reality manifested by Pierre. Standing at this threshold, the protagonist materializes from her flaming chrysalis, born anew.
