Beginning in the 70s, Takaezu evolved a discrete series of globular forms that she called Moons, recalling heavenly bodies and planetary forms. The monumental moon, Untitled, ca. 1990s, was formed from two halves using molds, joined at the center by bands of thick clay. Takaezu enveloped this moon in soft ochres and oranges and dripped washes of white and black along its surface.
